Outstanding characteristic


Light weight: One of the most significant characteristics of Polypropylene Light body filament is light weight. Due to the low density of polypropylene itself, the density of the light body silk made is only about 0.91g/cm3, compared with other common fibers, such as polyester fiber, nylon fiber, etc., the weight is significantly lighter under the same volume. This lightness is particularly advantageous in some weight-sensitive applications, such as making lightweight components in the aerospace sector, or for outdoor sports equipment, which can reduce the overall weight and improve the ease of use.


High strength: Despite its light weight, Polypropylene Light body filament has a high strength. Its tensile strength is usually between 3-6cN /dtex, and it can withstand large tensile forces without breaking. This feature makes it suitable for making products that need to withstand a certain external force, such as industrial ropes, fishing nets, etc. In the case of frequent stress, the polypropylene light body filament can maintain the structural integrity and ensure the durability of the product.


Good wear resistance: The surface of Polypropylene Light body filament is relatively smooth, and the molecular structure is tight, which makes it have excellent wear resistance. In the long-term use and frequent friction environment, such as the production of conveyor belt cover, the transmission belt in textile machinery, etc., polypropylene light body silk is not easy to wear, reducing the frequency of product replacement, reducing the cost of use.


Chemical resistance: Polypropylene Light body filament has a good tolerance to most chemical substances. Whether it is common chemical reagents such as acids and bases, or some organic solvents, it is difficult to cause corrosion. This makes it widely used in chemical, printing and dyeing industries, can be used to make filter cloth, protective clothing, etc., can maintain stable performance in complex chemical environments.


Low moisture absorption: The moisture absorption of Polypropylene Light body filament is very low and almost does not absorb water. Under standard atmospheric conditions, its moisture regain is usually less than 0.1%. This feature allows it to maintain its original physical properties in a humid environment and will not deteriorate due to moisture absorption. Used to make outdoor supplies, such as tents, umbrellas, etc., can effectively avoid the weight increase and performance decrease caused by water absorption.


Production technology


Raw material preparation: Selected high-quality polypropylene particles as the main raw material, these particles should have the appropriate molecular weight distribution and melt flow rate to ensure the quality of the final product. According to the performance requirements of the product, sometimes a small amount of additives, such as anti-aging agents, color masterbatches, etc., are added to improve the weather resistance of the polypropylene light body filament or give it a specific color.


Melt spinning: The prepared raw material is put into the screw extruder, which is heated to melt at a high temperature of 180-250 ° C. Driven by a screw, the molten polypropylene melt is extruded through the spinneret and extruded out of the small holes in the spinneret to form a thin stream of strands. The aperture and shape of the spinneret determine the initial diameter and section shape of the tow.


Cooling and curing: the wire bundle extruded from the spinneret enters the cooling air chamber, and is cooled quickly by air cooling or water cooling to form a solid polypropylene filament. The parameters such as wind speed, wind temperature and cooling time during the cooling process have important effects on the structure and performance of the primary silk, which need to be accurately controlled.


Tensile orientation: The strength of the primary silk is low, and in order to improve its strength and modulus, it needs to be stretched. By stretching the cooled tow, the macromolecular chains in the fiber are arranged along the axial orientation of the fiber, so as to improve the properties of the fiber. The drawing multiple is generally between 3-6 times, and the specific value depends on the final performance requirements of the product.


Special process treatment (formation of light body structure) : In order to obtain light body effect, special process treatment is used. For example, special air currents or mechanical vibrations are introduced during the stretching process to create tiny void structures inside the fibers. These voids increase the specific surface area of the fiber, reducing the density of the fiber while maintaining strength, thus achieving lightweight characteristics.


Winding molding: After the above treatment, the Polypropylene Light body filament meets the requirements of the finished product, and it is wound into a certain specification of bobbin yarn by the winding machine for subsequent storage, transportation and use.
